St. Mary is on Facebook

October 2007

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Glory to Jesus Christ!

The new Liturgical Year has begun with the return of our parishioners, Church School children, and college students. We are so happy to see you! There are many new faces among us. New couples and new students. If we can be of assistance to you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact Marilyn or me in the church office. A wonderful thing about St. Mary's is that hospitality is serious business with us.

We have several active organizations in the parish for you to join. Each one works for the good of the parish family and the community around us.

Specifically for women is the Women's Club that does marvelous work in both areas. All women are heartily invited to attend their monthly meetings, book club and numerous activities for parish fundraising and social outreach.

The Fellowship of St. John is for all members of the parish who have passed their teen years. Couples, singles, young, and old are welcome. DIAKONIA is the arm of the Fellowship involved in social outreach. The Fellowship will be glad to have you.

SOYO is the group for teens, so if you are one or have one in your home, we encourage you to get involved. The Teen Discussion Group meets every Sunday right after Holy Communion.

The Church Sunday School can always use a hand from anyone willing to take the education of our children seriously. Would you like to teach or substitute or perhaps help with one of its activities? You are welcome!

Our excellent parish choir welcomes anyone that loves to sing. If you would like to offer your talent as a chanter or are interested in learning to chant, we will be glad to accommodate you.

The Order of St. Ignatius, the Archdiocese philanthropic organization, is well represented at St. Mary's. If you would like to inquire about membership, any member or I would be happy to oblige.

On Sundays, we ask lay people to do various tasks during Divine Liturgy like reading the Epistles, taking collections and holding the communion cloths and breadbaskets at Holy Communion. These are great ways to increase your own participation in the Divine Service. If you are interested, let me know.

Our new catechism class has formed with a number of new inquirers. It is taught by David Vermette and meets on Sundays before Divine Liturgy at 9-10am. If you would like to join, please contact the church office.

I hope and pray that this year will bring great blessings to all of us. We are grateful for the many we have already received over the years. If you or any one you know has questions or concerns, please call.

Yours in Christ,

Fr. Antony
